Erectile Dysfunction - Know Your Treatment Options

Erectile dysfunction can both be embarrassing and frustrating. ED is a big burden that oftentimes destroys intimate relationships. This sexual disorder is

most commonly known to plague men in their 40s. Younger men however are not free

from this problem. You can just imagine the mental torture of an 18 year old

male who happens to be incapable of penis erection just when he is at the age

where sex could be the most important thing in his life.

If you are one of these men who have the misfortune of being afflicted with

erectile dysfunction, don't lose hope ...this is not the end of the world. There

are lots of treatment options available for you. First and foremost is to have a

physical examination. This is to rule out diabetes, cardiovascular diseases,

prostate cancer, high blood pressure and other diseases that could have caused

the erectile dysfunction. A physical examination is necessary as there is no

treatment "fit for all" for ED.

After the diagnoses, the doctor may prescribe pills. Examples of these

Phospodiesterase inhibitors are Viagra and Cialis. This pill will be taken about

30 minutes before you have sex with your partner. It relaxes the muscles in the

penis allowing more blood to flow thereby causing long lasting erection. Pills

however can be unpredictable. An erection will happen only if there is enough

stimulation, so good foreplay is needed to complete the action. It could be

quite frustrating and embarrassing if the erection happens when the mood is

over. Aside from this, pills are known to have side effects so better ask your

doctor.

Erection creams rubbed on the penis will help you achieve an erection. However,

this messy treatment could be embarrassing as how would you explain to your

partner the need for this treatment. Another treatment option for ED is the

vacuum therapy. The vacuum device makes use of a plastic cylinder, a pump and an

elastic band. The cylinder is placed on the penis, the pump will draw the air

from the cylinder and the elastic band that is tied at the base of the penis

will keep the penis puffed up with blood. Penile implants are another treatment

option for ED. Inflatable prosthesis is surgically inserted into the penis.

Erection is achieved by pumping fluid into the inflatable prosthesis.

If these treatment options are not for you, you may want to try a natural erectile dysfunction cure. Herbal impotence treatments are gaining popularity

these days. Many of these natural aphrodisiacs are guaranteed libido boosters.
